India Vs West Indies - 1st Test Match at Delhi, Nov 6-10, 2011

So the stars are back in the Indian team (and as I type this they are out too, sitting in the pavilion!!!)... West Indies won the toss and elected to bat first. It was that man again, Shivnarine Chanderpaul - who scored his 7th test ton against India and continous to torment India...

West Indies finally got all out on the second morning for 304. India's reply was swift as it always is when Sehwag and Gambhir open the Indian innings but they soon crumbled. As I type this India is 154/7 with, an embarrassing situation to be in at home conditions. Dravid is still there as he was, all series in England, fighting alone....

India will require to make a strong comeback and fight hard if they have to win this one..

I hope the men in blue get their act together. We dont want a defeat at home, do we?

They batted as if they are still playing in England!!
Terrible batting really.

Well. Sehwag, Sachin, Laxman, Yuvraj had not batted in a long time. Can you really blame them? N I don't think they're doing a terrible job in the 2nd innings, are they?

Not batted in a long time or not batted for a long time in the middle!!! We just played 4 matches in England where all these players were there. Sehwag played one match there and got a pair, if I remember correctly. But to make just 200 at home that too vs West Indies shows the state of our team.

So. Was this comeback strong enough? ;)

@ Vishal
Nice one:)
After a win all seems fine. But if you ask me, its not. If we have to sweat to win against West Indies at home in spinner friendly conditions then something is wrong. What do you feel?

You are right. But I'm a hard core Indian cricket team loyalist. In fact, I can find reasons to justify any win or loss of theirs. :)

I tend to review them less critically as their standards have been very high. Winning the World cup, staying the no. 1 test team for quite some time, etc. Maybe exhaustion and distraction (read IPL, for which the BCCI & not the players are responsible)are reasons why they sometimes drop their performance. Eagerly waiting for the next test for them to perform better...

@ Vishal
Even I am a hard core cricket lover!!
Maybe the reasons you mentioned are true but the players missed the West Indies tour to rest, dint they?? They missed the ODI series Vs England at home. So exhaustion does not come into play for me!
Lets see what happens in the next match:)
